New volunteer Trustee appointed: Gary Botsford
We're delighted to announce the appointment of our latest volunteer Trustee, Gary Botsford. Gary will be supporting us with the recruitment of new Trustees; developing our pool of excellent volunteers, who are so critical to our success; assisting on our people governance; as well as supporting our projects and fundraising.
Gary currently runs his own HR Consulting business and has over 25 years of HR experience working with blue chip companies, public sector and third sector. He has lived and worked abroad in both Dubai and Bahrain; and spent much of his career working internationally.
Gary made his first connection with Malawi in 1997 when he spent a year travelling around the world, including an overland truck expedition from Nairobi to Cape Town.
“I remember the beauty of Lake Malawi, watching women making cassava flour, being hosted for dinner in a village and most fondly, the warmth and friendliness of the people. I am passionate about developing people and am excited about working with Think Malawi to remove barriers to education, so children and young people can have the opportunity to grow.”
Gary has a degree in History and Politics, a postgraduate diploma in Human Resources Management and holds qualifications in occupational testing from the British Psychological Society. He has been a business and progression mentor for the past 10 years for the Prince’s Trust, a youth charity that helps young people aged 11 to 30 get into jobs, education and training, and also a Poppy Collector for the Royal British Legion since 2009.
We're excited to have Gary on board and look forward to reaping the rewards of his expertise. We still have a Trustee role available as our Treasurer. If you're interested, please find more information at Reach.
